Leading a design transformation across multiple security products, interfaces and teams.
Leading the product design transformation at Pointsharp, creating a more cohesive user experience across a diverse portfolio of enterprise security products.
Through UX strategy, interface redesign, and design system development, the focus was on reducing design debt, improving usability, and bringing consistency across platforms while enabling product teams to build and scale more efficiently.
Lead Product Designer
At Pointsharp, I joined as Lead Product Designer during a strategic post-merger phase where four companies had combined into one, resulting in a fragmented ecosystem of 17 security-focused products across web, iOS, Android, and desktop. The result: inconsistent interfaces, redundant patterns, and heavy design debt.
Platforms
Web, Desktop, Mobile
The Challenge
A diverse suite of legacy products lacked:
A cohesive visual language
Consistent interaction patterns
Shared components or scalable UX foundations
Design debt was blocking usability, trust, and future growth.
This project aimed to unify these products under one coherent design system that would support consistency, scalability, and developer collaboration.
Mission
Drive “One Pointsharp” by establishing a centralized design system that could adapt across platforms while improving usability and reducing implementation complexity.
Process
1. Discovery & UX Audit
Heuristic analysis
Stakeholder interviews
Support ticket trends
Product usage mapping
Outputs
Product Complexity Matrix
UI Heuristics Report
Usage & Dependency Map
This phase grounded the system’s priorities in real user and business impact.
2. Prioritization & Roadmapping
We aligned on starting with the most complex product as the system’s blueprint.
3. Agile Collaboration
Worked in cross-functional two-week sprints with developers and product owners. Introduced:
Design spikes to test assumptions
Regular design reviews
Shared Figma → Storybook → Git workflows
This ensured early feedback loops and faster implementation.
4. Design System Creation
Built a scalable, platform-agnostic design system with:
Tokens for color, typography, and spacing
Adaptive UI components
Interaction and accessibility guidelines
A contribution model for team members
This became the foundation for aligning interfaces across all products.
Outcomes
Unified visual language and interaction model across 17 products
A scalable, developer-friendly design system
Faster onboarding and implementation
Streamlined cross-product UI work
Reduced design inconsistencies and overhead
This system transformed a fragmented suite into a cohesive platform with predictable, consistent user experiences.
What I Learned
Building a design system is as much about culture and process as components
Prioritization frameworks help navigate complex legacy constraints
Tight collaboration with engineers accelerates adoption of shared UI solutions
